Listen Community Services

Heating Helpers
Winter is long and cold. Warmth is essential—especially living in the Upper Valley. High heating bills are creating anxiety. Government assistance is inadequate. Listen's Heating Helper Program protects seniors and families from having to choose between warmth, food or medicine. Listen can provide an emergency delivery of fuel, assistance to prevent an electric disconnect, and/or referrals and advocacy for public programs or resources.

Warmth is a Matter of Survival

We are all feeling the grip of high energy costs but our neighbors in need and at risk are especially challenged while the economy falters.

Households that never needed assistance before are walking into the Listen offices on a daily basis now.  The recession is affecting more and more families.  Listen is their safety net. In 2010, Listen provided
$109,775 in fuel & electric assistance.

How we will serve these families in 2011 is up to you.  We are not the ones who make things happen in the Upper Valley; you are. You are the ones who lead us forward.  So much depends upon your acts of kindness.  Listen has always been, and will always be, a reflection of your generosity.  We will all be warmer for your support.

Thank you.
