Dear LISTEN Thrift Store Donors,

We wanted to put together a letter to address safety issues, common complaints, explanation of policies, and just sharing general information about our donation center. Below is the full letter covering many safety issues, complaints, and policies. Click the button below to look it over and be sure to share!

With the help of the thrift stores we are able to run a food pantry, community dinners, utility assistance, rent assistance, summer camp scholarships, holiday baskets, and more.

Thank you to all who donate to LISTEN! Without you we wouldn't be able to help the community like we do!

Letter to Donors

LISTEN’s critical mission to support the Upper Valley with essential services such as food, heating and housing assistance is funded by individual contributions and grants, and supplemented by the sale of donated goods in our stores. When you give or shop with us, the proceeds provide the resources we need to offer these services. Our stores offer large, open showrooms and a department store feel with a wide selection of everything from gently- used furniture, housewares, and clothing for the whole family to books, movies, small electronics, and seasonal decorations. Come thrift with us and enjoy the bargains!

For daily announcements and specials please visit our Facebook page.

Donation FAQs

  • Are you taking donations?

Due to the overwhelming community support, we have limited donation hours. We accept donations at our Lebanon, Canaan, and WRJ stores. Check times here.

We very much appreciate your patience with us so that we can protect the safety of you and our staff.

Thank you, Upper Valley, for continuing to support our community by donating to LISTEN. Together, we will continue to change lives.

  • Can I drop off donations while your stores are closed?

We respectfully request that items be dropped off during our donation hours to ensure the safety of our donors, customers, and employees, and allow for the efficient processing of donated items.

  • What is the process to drop off donations?

Bins have been located outside our donation center to receive donations. We respectfully request that donors separate items into the bins as labeled. To ensure a quick drop-off experience, please consider sorting items prior to arrival.

Bins: (1) Clothing and soft goods, (2) hard goods, (3) breakables

  • Can someone help me unload?

Staff will be there to assist donors.

  • Are you picking up furniture?

Yes. To schedule a furniture pick-up, please call (603)448-4553. Or you submit a request by using our Furniture Pick-Up Form.

What are the items LISTEN can accept?

Many items have a very positive impact on LISTEN's mission and help us provide support for the Upper Valley community. We appreciate your not leaving items that should be disposed of otherwise. Unfortunately, LISTEN spends close to $100,000 every year in dump fees, in part because of trash and unusable items that are left with us. This is an extraordinary amount of money that could otherwise help house and feed so many more of our neighbors. Please view the lists below to know what we are currently accepting and what items we can not accept.

PLEASE NOTE: We are accepting furniture drop-offs at our Lebanon donation center.

If you need to schedule a furniture pick-up appointment, please call 603-448-4553.

LISTEN COMMUNITY SERVICES

How We Help Our Upper Valley Community

white river junction clothing store

When you donate goods or shop with us, the proceeds stay local and benefit our community. We employ many people from Vermont and Hampshire, and 25% of the stores’ revenue support LISTEN’s programs that provide food, heating, and housing assistance to our neighbors in need.

Upper Valley thrift Stores

We help you to save money! Our three thrift stores provide affordable, second-hand items at discounted prices. We also offer many “sale days” each week, and organize several seasonal and holiday sales.

lebanon NH thrift store

Donating and buying from a thrift shop is an excellent way to reuse and recycle items such as clothes, electronics, and furniture. Together we are decreasing the waste going to landfills and the number of new items that need to be created. Thoughtful consumption and less pollution is a win-win for all of us!

Volunteers are needed at our thrift stores.

Volunteering is not only a great way to give back to the Upper Valley but a way to get to learn more about LISTEN and the impact we have within the community.

The gift of your time supports our community. Volunteers for LISTEN sort clothes and housewares, and more. Everyone is welcome! Come alone or with your family, colleagues, or other small group.
